AREA Rug FRINGE Cleaning

MIAMI AREA RUG FRINGE CLEANING

Bright white fringe is a traditional staple in many different types of tribal rugs. From Oriental rugs to Turkish rugs, you’ll find white dangling thread surrounding the entirety of the rug. Unfortunately, after continued use and exposure to dust and dirt, very rarely does the fringe stay white. This is quite common and something to naturally expect with the color. Nonetheless, it can still be frustrating to see how negative of an impact dirty fringe can have on your otherwise bold, bright, and beautiful Oriental rug.

Thankfully, it easy fairly easy and safe to restore the coloring of your carpet’s fringe. The cleaning technicians at Miami Oriental Rug Cleaning Pros can quickly bring your rug back to life through a deep cleaning of your fringe. This is often paired with an overall professional cleaning of your rug, but can also be done as a one-off between normal cleanings. Clients have the option for us to perform the task in their home or at our cleaning facilities.

Area Rug Fringe Cleaning In MIAMI, fl

Typically, we will perform this process by wetting or even soaking fringe in a mixture of our exclusive gentle cleansers and warm water. We’ll then individually hand scrub each fiber and lay them out to dry as to not damage the flooring beneath and to prevent any crimping or scrunching. We will also use grooming techniques to soften the frills and prevent tangling or bunching. This is a tedious process and often takes a lot of patience and focused attention to complete.

In severe cases or at the request of the owner, we may even recolor the fringe. We do this using safe, long-lasting synthetic dyes that will instantly brighten and enhance the look of your area rug. Once your rug is returned to your home, you’ll be surprised at the difference.

Rug Cleaning

  1. If you are in between rug cleanings and are hoping to spruce up your fringe edges on your own, it is possible to take the task on yourself. Though, we do recommend leaving large jobs to professionals and inquiring about fringing dying during your next scheduled professional cleaning.

If you wish to clean your fringe yourself, here is a safe and effective process for you to follow:
Remove loose dirt, dust, and particles from fringe fibers by shaking and vacuuming the rug while it is still dry. This step can make the rest of the cleaning process easier and can prevent you from causing more damage by allowing surface dirt to soak into and spread deeper into the fibers.
  2. Protect the floors below by laying down a tarp or other type of barrier between your fringe and the floor covering beneath it. This will prevent the water and soap mixtures from causing damage to your hardwood or other types of floor coverings. If you have the space and the weather permits, you can also move your rug outdoors for the cleaning or to another ventilated area.
  3. Once the surface of the fringe is cleaned and your floors are protected, you can begin preparing for the deep cleaning process by mixing together your cleaning solvent. We recommend using one tablespoon of ammonia with a large cup of warm water. You can create as much mixture as you need using this ratio. Be cautious, as ammonia is a strong chemical and you will want to ensure you don’t spill it on other parts of your carpet and that the room you are cleaning in has proper ventilation.
  4. Finally, begin cleaning the fringe by either dipping the fringe in the mixture and wiping or by dampening a clean, soft cloth into the mixture and slowing scrubbing away at each thread. We recommend starting in a more conspicuous area of the rug and constantly monitoring results to ensure that the fringe is coming clean and that you are not causing any damage to the fibers. After each small section of fringe cleaned, thoroughly rinse out excess ammonia using a vinegar and water mixture and a separate clean cloth.

Once you’ve cleaned the entirety of your rug’s fringe, it’s time to let it dry. Ensure that your fringe is laying straight, isn’t tangled, and isn’t sitting directly on flooring or other materials that can become damaged with excess exposure to moisture.
